Leaf springs are one of the most essential components of suspension systems in trucks. Trucks that commonly use leaf springs are light commercial vehicles and heavy goods vehicles. Many other vehicles use spring absorber suspension systems but leaf style springs are becoming a much more common and popular option. Using a leaf spring in a truck is a much more cost effective and economical alternative to spring absorbers. Due to the size of the load they typically carry light commercial vehicles and heavy goods vehicles usually need the springs replacing more often. Maintaining and replacing your leaf springs is important, however there comes a time when they’ll simply need replacing. Vehicles that use spring absorbers and become worn, will require replacement which is much more costly than using leaf springs. Smaller vehicles using absorbers are much easier and cheaper to replace but replacing absorbers in a truck will be costly. Replacing a leaf spring for a truck that uses springs is a much more cost effective option. Whilst it’s becoming much more common for trucks of all size to use springs, more and more other vehicles are using them. Using a spring in your vehicle helps to ensure a much smoother ride and safer ride; this is because they spread the weight more evenly across the chassis of the vehicle. Using springs in your vehicle helps to ensure the vehicle is light whilst it’s empty and heavy when the vehicle is loaded. Which a well spread load the vehicle will be able to move much smoother and it will have an adequate level of suspension to deal will daily use.
The suspension systems are made up of one or more long pieces of arched steel. These are designed to flex when necessary such as when you hit a bump in the road or when you carry a heavy weight. Once you return to smooth ground the spring will flex back into shape. One end of the spring will be attached the vehicle and the other end is attached to a shackle so that it can move. This means the overall length of the spring can vary and expand without it cracking. The more springs used in the suspension system allows the vehicle to support more weight. However, using more springs won’t increase the maximum load capacity of the vehicle.
Provide different types of leaf springs which include conventional multi leaf springs, parabolic leaf springs, air linkers and sprung drawbars.
In terms of vehicle types, it include heavy duty semi trailer leaf springs, truck leaf springs, light duty trailer leaf springs, buses and agricultural leaf springs.
